US aims to quell Pakistani anger

After violent rallies in opposition to a video offending Islam left at least 17 people dead in Pakistan, the United States has called for calm in the South Asian nation.

Friday's demonstrations came after the Department of State spent $70,000 on an Urdu-language advertisement to say the US government had nothing to do with the controversial video.

Al Jazeera's Rosiland Jordan reports from the State Department.
