A former Thai general who was chief military adviser to the Red Shirts is seriously injured after being shot in the head, apparently by a sniper, movement's aide said. It happened shortly after the end of a deadline for troops to seal their Bangkok protest camp. The military had said it would start surrounding the protest camp and advised people to leave. The protesters have been occupying parts of Bangkok for more than two months. They want the Prime Minister to dissolve parliament and call fresh elections.
