Scientists have doubled their estimate of the amount of oil gushing from a blown-out Gulf of Mexico well. It's now thought to be about 40-thousand barrels a day. The US government has imposed a 6-month offshore drilling moratorium in the wake of the spill. Louisiana lawmakers have railed against the moratorium, saying it could put more than 100-thousand people out of work and shatter businesses. The livelihoods of thousands of fisherman, property owners and tourism workers are also jeopardized by the leak.
