A 53 year old University professor in the Czech Republic announced his plans to run for President in the upcoming 2013 elections. Vladimir Franz is also a painter and music composer.
He is quite different from the other candidates though, because he has tattoos on his entire face and body, along with several facial piercings and dyed blue hair.
To be eligible to run, he still has to get 50 thousand signatures in support of his candidacy. The Prague Daily Monitor reports that citizens of the Czech Republic can vote for “the next president in direct polls for the first time in early 2013.”
Reports say that Franz’s chances to win the election aren’t very high, but he does rank higher than some other potential candidates.
Another unusual candidate who has run for office in Eastern Europe is Yelena Berkova, a Russian porn star who ran for mayor of Moscow back in 2009. Her campaign ad featured her walking topless down the beach.
