Plans for an incredible new sea exploration vehicle dubbed ‘the SeaOrbiter’ are in the making.
It looks like a sea version of a UFO, but it is described as part vessel and part submarine combined into one ocean explorer. Half of the ship will remain underwater while operating.
The SeaOrbiter project began 12 years ago and the construction of the futuristic ship is estimated to cost more than $50 million. When finished, the vertical sea vessel will measure 170 feet in height. There will be an underwater observatory, an air observation deck and it will also have satellite equipped sonic gear.
The website claims: “the universal media objective of SeaOrbiter is based on a concept of an onboard multimedia platform, a true content production unit dedicated to the knowledge about the ocean.”
The shipbuilding launch is slated for early 2013, while the official premiere is set to occur in 2014 as a test campaign in Monaco for a mission in the Mediterranean sea.
