Demonstrators set police car on fire in Cairo

STORY: Demonstrators in Cairo, angry at an American produced film deemed insulting to the Prophet Mohammad, attacked security forces with stones and set fire to a police car near to the U.S. embassy on Thursday (September 13).
The demonstrators also attacked the embassy itself, scaling its walls and tearing down the American flag.
In response, Egypt's president, Mohamed Mursi said on Thursday he supported peaceful protest but not attacks on embassies.
The film, clips of which have appeared online, has been condemned by the U.S. State Department.
The demonstrations in the Egyptian capital follow similar attacks on American embassies in Yemen and Tunisia as well as the attack on Tuesday (September 11) night on the consulate in Benghazi in Libya, in which the U.S. Ambassador to Libya J Christopher Stevens was killed.
In Cairo on Thursday protesters threw stones at police blocking their approach to the U.S. embassy near Tahrir Square, with police retaliating by firing tear gas.
