Hey Guys! Guess what I found out this morning? World of Warcraft can track you down. Anywhere!
That is if you take a screenshot. This discovery came from a player who noticed some strange artifacts in an in-game image he had grabbed- posted on Slashdot Games- via GamePolitics. After sharpening the image, the WoW player noticed "a repeating pattern that was secretly embedded inside." He then went and shared his discovery with Owned Core and they soon learned that the watermark reveals the user ID and IP address of the person who captured the screenshot as well as the time it was taken. Creepy!
So- bottom line- the World Of Warcraft Screenshots Include your Embedded User Info. I guess this means you better not do anything illegal or take any naughty Wow Screenshots. What?! But- the real issue here is that Blizzard never notified its users of this in their terms of service. And according to G4, The World of Warcraft developer has yet to comment on the matter. You know- they are probably in an office right now going "oh shit! What do we do?"
Do you feel your privacy has been invaded by Blizzard? What do you think of this? ? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time, I'm Hailey Bright and you're watching Clevver Games.
