"Girls Just Want To Have Fun" at Betsey Johnson

If Cyndi Lauper has it right and "Girls just wanna have fun" - then this girl has had fun with fashion for nearly five decades.
Eccentric New York designer Betsey Johnson is turning 70 - and she's celebrating it with a retrospective fashion show highlighting her 47 years in the industry.
The bright colors of the 70s, the punk skull motifs of the 80s and the bias cut dresses of the 90s all had their moments on the runway.
Johnson admits that watching her life's work is emotional.

"The retrospective was what gets me the most because I just - you see the years flash by, and then I see all my super-creative funny work, the middle part, the branding, 'cause no rules, no, nobody to please except myself."
The party is well-deserved for Johnson who had to file for bankruptcy protection earlier this year losing control of her 63 boutiques.
But since then she has bounced back and will sell her spring line of brightly-colored dresses that now sell at lower prices at department stores - showing that at 70, Johnson is still limber enough to survive the tough economy.
