A car bomb explodes in Damascus. The second blast in a day against government targets in the Syrian capital.

Syria TV broadcast images of what it called it a "terrorist explosion" -- hitting an area near the city's main courthouse and Ministry of Information.

The uprising against President Bashar al-Assad has grown increasingly bloody in recent months, as rebels haved stepped up attacks in both Damascus, and the economic hub of Aleppo.

It's part of a 17-month-old revolt that has left an estimated 18,000 people dead.
