Manish's association with the Mijwan talent started three years ago when Namrata Goyal and Shabana Azmi introduced him to the Mijwan Welfare Society, founded by Kaifi Azmi to empower the girl child.

Mijwan girls were specialized in chikankari work. He was very impressed by their amazing hand embroidery. Since a year and a half he has adopted Mijwan- a tiny village near Azamgarh UP, playing mentor to 55 women from rural India with regular work and input in embroidery. He has since adapted the modernized chikankari art into his creations
