    Economic lull hits Italy's fashion industry

    Fashion has long been an important trademark of Italy, but the country's economic recession has forced many independent clothing outlets to shut down as consumers are spending less on branded clothing items.

    Since the beginning of 2012, around 1,500 fashion stores have been forced to close down and thousands more are expected to follow.

    Al Jazeera's Claudio Lavanga reports from Rome.
