Modder Andy Rawson was looking for a thermal imaging camera to find air leaks in his house so that he could improve energy efficiency. The only problem is that one of these cameras costs anywhere from 1 to 20 thousand dollars. And since if you spend that much cash you're not really going to be saving too much money, he decided to build his own. The device consists of a little box with a 64 zone temperature connector, and a connector that hooks it up to an iPhone. The temperature sensor data is overlaid on top of the iPhone's camera, and just like that, now he's got a $150 thermal imaging camera. He's planning on open sourcing this bad boy so that everyone else can benefit from his cool new toy.
