People across the Sahel are struggling to grow crops on parched soils.

A so-called drought resistant seed is not on the market, which has been locally produced and distributed to farmers across lower Eastern Kenya at a reasonable price promises good yield, early maturity and resistance to common diseases.

But the seeds are still to expensive for many ordinary farmers to afford and they have been encouraged to use traditional methods.
