Support dims for Germany's junior coalition partner

Since World War II, Germany's Free Democratic Party has been in power more often than not, as a junior partner in multiple federal governments.

But over the past 18 months, the FDP has suffered electoral setbacks in regional elections.

If their current poll numbers continue, they may get no seats in parliament in next year's election, which could also affect fellow coalition partner the Christian Democrats, headed by Chancellor Angela Merkel.
