Bahrain's "reforms" leave monarchy and opposition divided
  • 12 years ago
On Tuesday, Bahrain's National Commission released a report detailing numerous reforms undertaken in the wake of a mass uprising last year. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa praised the efforts as an "impressive beginning," and the government launched a well-choreographed media campaign to trumpet them.

But the country's opposition, including the largest Shia bloc Al Wefaq, has says those reforms are more imaginary than real. Wefaq has refused to take part in the government's efforts.
