Tiger Mom Meet Eagle Dad
Look out Tiger Mom, you may have a bit of competition. Meet He Liesheng. Because of his strict parenting, he’s adopted the name Eagle Dad.

He first earned his reputation earlier this year, when a video of him making his four-year-old son run around half naked in the snow in New York went viral. And that was on a family vacation.

His son, He Yide, also called Duoduo, was born prematurely and suffered health problems. His Dad feels that the best way to strengthen him is through a rigorous daily training regime. Duoduo's cries for his Dad to give him a cuddle are not part of the training.

The world can be a tough place. He believes the best way to prepare a child for the world is to make everyday a battle.

[He Lieshang, Eagle Father]:
"At the moment our education is like this calm water, but the world outside is turbulent like the open sea. So we want education to be like small waves, and then even like a thunderstorm. In this way, the child can seamlessly transition into the cruel society they will encounter in the future. So I demand education to be strict, to be like real life. Training through real battle. I think this is best way."

He compares his fathering to an eagle that will drop its offspring out of the nest at a young age forcing it to fly—or fall to its death.

Duoduo is now learning how to sail, something his sailing coach, Xia Bingyu, says is unheard of.

[Xia Bingyu, Coach]:
"You could say that he's one of the most talented I have seen in all this time, because no four-and-a-half-year-old child can master sailing. What he has grasped so far is really excellent. Today the wind must be around six to seven meters-per-second. The gusts are perhaps over seven meters per second. But for a child of four-and-a-half who weights just 18 kilograms to control the boat this well, I find very surprising."

And so what does Duoduo think of all this?

[Duoduo, Eagle Child]:
"Sailing is a bit boring. Because sailing is really slow."
