The US Congress is considering a bill introduced by a pro-Israeli lawmaker that would slash America's contribution to the UN and any of its bodies if they recognise Palestinian statehood. The General Assembly is due to hold a controversial vote later this month on recognition. The law proposed by a Republican Congresswoman would also permanently cut humanitarian relief funding to Palestinian refugees displaced from land occupied by Israel.
