Ivory Coast's Gbagbo faces trial at ICC

Ex-Ivory Coast president Laurent Gbagbo is being tried by the ICC or International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.

He is the first former head of state to be handed over to the ICC.

Prosecuters say he is responsible for post-election violence that killed 3,000 people between December 16, 2010 and April 12, 2011.

His transfer to the ICC has spurred his supporters to withdraw from national reconciliation efforts.

Global human rights groups warn that his prosecution could threaten national stability.
