NBA player Jeremy Lin walked in to a gym of enthusiastic students this Friday. He attended the inaugural ceremony for New World Springboard, a program by the Hong Kong government that encourages kids to be active.

The Taiwanese American basketball star showed off some of his skills to the young athletes. Just to keep them on their toes, he threw a high ball into the crowd.

He told them a little bit about the beginning of his basketball career - in English. Then showed off his Chinese to the applause of the audience.

This was Jeremy Lin’s first time in Hong Kong. His parents are from Taiwan but he grew up in the US. The young star spent his 24th birthday in Hong Kong.
