5 Creepiest Pets - as part of the series on pets and animals by GeoBeats.

Most people want cute and cuddly pets. But if you are into the unusual types, here are 5 of the creepiest.

Number 5 are the Mexican Red Tarantulas. Native to Mexico, they can live up to 25 years. Although these animals are venomous, their venom is not fatal.

Number 4 are the Chameleons that are indigenous to the forests of Sudan, Africa. They tend to be antisocial and do not like to be held. Their colors are usually vivid, however they are not as bright when resting.

Number 3 are the Large Burmese Pythons. The best way to handle these snakes is to keep control of their head and just do not let them close the loop around the area where you have to breathe.

Number 2 are the Emperor Scorpions. Native to the forests of Africa, a full grown scorpion can be about 9 inches long. Since these scorpions do not have teeth, they use their stinger for converting food into semi-liquid form and then slurping it up.

Number 1 are the Savannah Monitors. Native to Africa, they grow upto be about 3 and a half to almost 4 feet in length. In captivity, they eat insects, roaches, worms, or mice. However, in the wild, they also feed on lizards and other small mammals.
