Abd Al Satar Al Shalan, a 43-year-old independent journalist in Baghdad, Iraq, reflects on the effects of the attacks of September 11, 2001, on the United States, in an interview with Al Jazeera.

"In my point of view as an independent journalist, this incident was directed to Islamic world totally so that any Muslim in the world be accused of terrorism. Meaning that America could pass its agenda across the Islamic world by the pretext of the attacks on the world trade centre.

It affected us a lot by the American invasion to our country and what followed of the destruction of the infrastructure, and the Iraqi people by the occupying American forces."
