Having qualified for the European Champions League for the first time it was all smiles at Malaga football club at the end of last season.

The future looked rosy for the Spanish club after hundreds of thousands of dollars had been invested by Qatari owner Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani.

But recent developments have wiped the smiles from the faces of both players and fans.

Star players like Spanish international Santi Corzola have been sold, wages are not being paid and coach Manuel Pellegrini is not happy.

Al Jazeera's Matt Rumsey reports from Malaga, Spain.
