Anti government fighters in the Democratic Republic of Congo have seized control of more towns in the east of the country leaving many civilians and UN-backed government soldiers have been forced to retreat into neighbouring Uganda. This has opened the way for a possible advance on Goma, the provincial capital about 70km.
