US private Bradley Manning, who's accused of leaking hundreds of thousands of classified documents to the secret-spilling website Wikileaks, has called on the judge to dismiss the charges. His attorney accused the government of bungling the handover of certain documents to Manning's defence team. This came during Thursday's hearing, when prosecutors claimed the soldier was aiding al-Qaeda through his activities.
If found guilty, Manning could spend the rest of his life behind bars. Previously the UN spokesman on torture blamed the US government for 'cruel and inhuman treatment' towards the private. A spokesman for the group supporting Manning, says he's already been subjected to unlawful punishment.
