The verdict for the murder trial against Gu Kailai and her family aide is expected to be announced by a Chinese court on Monday.
Verdicts and sentences are usually delivered on the same day. The wife of once powerful Chongqing Party Secretary Bo Xilai could be facing a sentence from 10 years in prison to the death penalty.
State media reports that Gu confessed to the murder of British businessman Neil Heywood, while family aide Zhang Xiaojun stressed he was merely Gu's accomplice.
The news of the announcement comes from information provided to the Associated Press by an official at the Hefei Intermediate People's Court. That's where last week's trial was held. The official did not give her name. According to her, the hearing would be open to the public but all seats in the courtroom had "already been taken up." The same thing happened with last week's trial, preventing foreign media from attending.
