Restaurant Gives Discount for Not Using Phone - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.
Mobile phones are a huge aspect of our daily lives. However, the usage of a cell phone in certain public places shows a lack of old-fashioned manners and serves as a major distraction.
One dining establishment in Los Angeles is motivating patrons to cease cell phone disturbance. Eva Restaurant is offering a 5% discount on the bill to customers who will leave their phones at the front desk. Owner, Mark Gold says, “For us, it's really not about people disrupting other guests. Eva is home, and we want to create that environment of home, and we want people to connect again. It's about two people sitting together and just connecting, without the distraction of a phone”.
Eva isn’t the only restaurant that wanted to limit cell phone use. A Washington D.C. eatery went even further, banning the device and requiring diners to actually sign a contract before their reservations were confirmed.
What do you think - should phones be banned from restaurants and bars?
