The long rumored Guardians of the Galaxy movie was officially announced during this year's Comic-Con, but other than an August 1st, 2014 release date and concept art showing off the five heroes will be seeing, not much was known about the project. Now, thanks to a logline posted on two reputable industry sites, we're getting a better sense of what exactly the movie will be about.
The logline reads, "A U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants." Okay, not much to go on, but we do know the U.S. pilot they are referring to is most likely Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, the character in the middle wearing the mask and dual-wielding the pistols with the "futuristic ex-cons" being his team of Guardians that include Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot and Rocket Raccoon.
The logline leads us to believe that the film will most likely be an origin story and focus heavily on Quill's transformation into Star-Lord and his attempts to recruit his fellow Guardians. As for the "something everyone wants"? We're thinking that will most likely be the Infinity Gauntlet or one of its gems as teased by the appearance of Thanos in the mid-credits scene of The Avengers.
So far no cast or director has been announced for Guardians of the Galaxy, but at least now we're getting a few clues about what we'll see come 2014. So what are your theories about the plot and are you excited to see how Guardians turns out?
