While much of the US economy is still feeling the effects of the great recession, one new sector has seen explosive growth.

It's an industry that didn't exist just a few years ago. The market for smart phone apps is creating hundreds of thousands of jobs.

Recently, the company that makes the Instagram app was bought by Facebook for $1bn.
