Web Growth: A Book Printing Phenomenon

This video helps explain the reasons for web growth and how Edwards Brothers Malloy takes steps to prevent it from happening. Despite these efforts, web growth is a phenomenon that is difficult to prevent on any particular print job. Paper printed on a heat-set press can lose moisture causing it to shrink. During the book binding process, covers and pages are trimmed to their final size at the same time. In the time after this happens, pages can grow wider than the covers in soft-cover books. This can appear like the cover of a book was trimmed too short.
