Animal-assisted therapy helps to improve a patient's emotional state and is an increasingly popular form of treatment these days.

In an overwhelmingly heartwarming report, a 16-year-old cancer patient experienced the joy of animals when 3,000 cats were brought to her room in an unusual way. The girl, who is an avid cat-lover has been isolated and confined to her room in Seattle Children's Hospital while enduring post-bone marrow transplant treatment. Hospital personnel asked their Facebook followers to send in their favorite cat photographs for what they called a ‘special project’. Employees set up a tent over her bed and displayed a kitty slide show of more than 3,000 pictures on the canvas walls while playing an audio recording of purring sounds. The teenager said “I just wanted to say thank you for taking all the time for sending all these pictures in because it means so much to me.”

Have you come across a situation in which an animal helped someone during a health crisis?
