Looks like the head honcho behind Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is going on record to say that the gaming industry would be a better place if Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony work together to make one universal console.
.
Tekken Producer Katsu Hiro Harada sounded off on what he thinks the industry would be like if the big 3 got together to make a single console. He says that the industry innovations would be endless. Now yes, I agree with this statment from Harada. But then he goes on to say that NIntendo, Microsoft, and Sony can no longer control gamers play habbits because of the rise of mobile and browser gaming.
.
He expresses that gamers are no longer tied down to consoles for thier gaming needs. Because they can just as easily enjoy a game online or on thier phone. All I can say to this is Noooooo. Yes, you can play a game on your phone, but it's not a game. It's something to kill time with. But I do like where his head is at. Trying to urge the big guys to work together for the sake of the fans. But now for some sad reality. It could never happen. Mainly, cuz of money.
.
Think about it, if Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony made a console, they would have to share profits. That means they would have to sell the console around 6 to 8 hundred dollars just to make, what they would consider a reasonable console. That doesn't seem very fair to the average gamer. Plus, the big positive with a universal would be on line play without the restrictions of different consoles. But the same principle take effect here. To play online, who knows how much it would cost for online play. Sadly, it's all about the money. But, hey, it makes sense.
.
I do agree with Harada that the capabilities of a universal console would be endless, and really, I would love to see this happen. But is it at all realistically possible?
