In the jungles of Peru sit over 200,000 marijuana plants.

A police operation in two central regions located a record haul of 50-tonnes worth of marijuana.

Estimates suggest a street value of 15 million U.S. dollars.

Over a number of days the police burnt and destroyed the plants.

The find was 17 times more than all marijuana destroyed by Peru in 2011.

The central American nation is one of the world's largest drug growers.
