Protests spark violence in Senegal

6 years ago64 views

Students set fire to a bus and threatened to march on Senegal's presidential palace, a day after one of their classmates was killed during a demonstration.

Wednesday's clashes, in a country dubbed by some as Africa's most stable democracy", come amid opposition anger against the decision of the nation's highest court to allow 85-year-old President Abdoulaye Wade to run for a third term.

Al Jazeera's Barnaby Philips reports from the capital, Dakar.
