Storm Washi victims struggle on

6 years ago37 views

It has been a month since tropical storm Washi wreaked havoc in the southern Philippines and killed over a thousand people and left 80, 000 families homeless.

Despite the troubles survivors in Iligan are in a hurry to rebuild and get on with their lives - many in the same areas where their homes were destroyed.

They feel they have little other choice because evacuation centres are too crowded and relocation plans are still unclear.

Al Jazeera's Marga Ortigas reports from Cagayan de Oro, in Northern Mindanao.
