Thousands of people have held anti-government protests in Syria, chanting for the downfall of the government.
At least 12 people were killed by security forces across the country, activists said.
The reported violence comes two days before an Arab League meeting in Cairo to decide the future of its observer mission in Syria.
Opposition and human rights group say the mission is a failure and want the case referred to the UN.
