Mexican gangs threaten school teachers

Terror has engulfed schools in the city of Acapulco, Mexico.

Criminal gangs have kidnapped at least four teachers in the last two weeks. Another 500 teachers say they're being told to turn over half their salaries or they too will turn up missing. Many students are deeply worried.

In the face of such threats, teachers from at least 80 schools have decided to stop working, just as the new school year is getting underway.

Al Jazeera's Franc Contreras reports from Acapulco.
