Rebel fighters in the western Libyan town of Zlitan said they were taken by surprise when Gaddafi forces launched an offensive early on Tuesday morning.

At least seven rebels were killed, and 50 wounded, in the raid, which sparked a counter-offensive.

Al Jazeera's Hoda Abdel-Hamid reports from outside the hospital in Misrata where the opposition fighters were being treated.
