Pakistan is the fourth largest cotton grower and third biggest consumer of the fibre in the world.

Of late, a combination of severe energy crisis and economic mismanagent is forcing many factories in the country to close down. Experts say that Pakistan's textile industry, considered the backbone of its economy, is on the verge of collapsing.
