A nationwide strike called by the opposition against government plans to amend the constitution has crippled Dhaka, the country's capital.

Shops were closed and traffic was disrupted as up to 10,000 security personnel fanned out across the city on Sunday.

More than 60 opposition members were detained by police for taking part in the strike.

Nicolas Haque reports from Dhaka.
