Winning the lottery, stumbling across items worth thousands of dollars - these unexpected surprises can put a smile to anyone's face. An unsuspecting woman browsing a Goodwill store in North Carolina stumbled across an item worth thousands of dollars. Beth Feeback was attending a fair to display her artwork, when she got chilly and decided to purchase a blanket from a nearby store. She also spotted two paintings that looked to be from the 1970s, priced at $9.99 each. Feeback bought them and was originally going to use them as canvases to paint over; that is until her friend noticed attached labels which said ‘Weatherspoon Gallery at University of North Carolina -Greensboro’.

Research revealed one of the paintings was named ‘Vertical Diamond’ from a 20th century abstract painter. The painting ranges in value from $15,000 to $20,000 and was sent to be auctioned off in New York. Reacting to the outcome, Feeback says, “I’m so excited! This is the kind of stuff that happens to other people, not me and my husband!”
