Mexican farmers feel forgotten by politicians

As the Mexican presidental election approaches, politicians make great electoral promises in order to win the farmers' vote.

This is because rural communities in Mexico make up 30 per cent of the population and, although the federal budget for the rural sector has increased, more than 60 percent of extreme poverty is found in the countryside.

In the Mexican town of Zacatecas, some say they have been forgotten by politicians in the past and they hope the politicians' electoral promises will be respected in the upcoming run for presidency.

Al Jazeera's Rachel Levin reports from Zacatecas.
