Leading prostate cancer surgeon, Dr. David Samadi, stresses the importance of telling your doctor the truth about all past and current factors that may contribute to your health. Recently a female patient died after liposuction surgery as what is believed to be the result of complications from not revealing her status as a heart transplant patient. The four most common lies told to doctors are: I don’t drink or smoke, I’m not taking any medication, I did what you told me to do, and It’s just a small problem. Dr. Samadi urges patients to share all information with their physicians whether they think it’s important to the discussion at hand or not. He reminds that even vitamin or supplement usage should be revealed. Probing questions from doctors are never meant to judge your actions, but rather arm the doctor with all information relevant to your health.
