    Sudan leaders unite in vote run-up

    A meeting of more than 20 political parties in south Sudan has ended with leaders agreeing to put aside differences in the run-up to January's independence vote.

    Southern politicians have not always seen eye to eye - a series of defections over the years has caused rifts which Salva Kiir, the president of Southern Sudan, is trying to repair before the referendum.
