Chinese leader Wen Jiabao met separately with the European Union delegation on the sidelines of a China-EU dialogue in Beijing. The EU delegation was headed by foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.
Ashton and Wen are set to discuss various global issues, including the Iranian regime's nuclear plans. Chinese authorities have been against using sanctions or force against Iran to discourage its nuclear program.
Some say, without a deal, the stalemate over Iran's nuclear aspirations could boil over into a regional war. A war that could destabilize oil markets and damage the fragile global economy.
