The California Ramblers were a popular and prolific jazz group from the 1920s, that recorded hundreds of songs under many different record labels throughout the 1920s. Three of the members of the band, Red Nichols, Jimmy Dorsey, and Tommy Dorsey, would go on to front big bands in later decades. The original bandmembers were from Ohio, but chose the name California Ramblers because they thought people would be less inclined to listen to a jazz band from the Midwest. They recorded for nearly every independent label in the U.S., Canada and the U.K., using over 100 unique aliases. This brilliant record was made in 1927. Vocal by Ed Kirkeby and uncredited band members.

East or West depending on the viewing angle, the music was spot on anyway :-)

My Dear Blackie,
I love Twilight Zone....:-)
Ohioans think New Yorkers have horns and tails....
I once went to a Poster Store in Manhattan on Bway and there was a sign...
We ship everywhere...Even CLEVELAND...... When I questioned the man, he told me a lot of store would not ship to Ohio....Must be like the Bermuda Triangle.......:-)

Ohio kind of in the twilight zone. To some it's where the Mid-West begins to others it's the East.

Thank you for your enthusiasm, Genia! I don't exactly know what's particularly special in Ohio, but no doubt these guys were special indeed. They never disappointed and I agree that arrangement and that performance are brilliant!

So true, Jack, I don't think I ever came across a bad record by this band.
