Made from some of the oldest vines in the world, Australian winemaker, Penfolds, is releasing the most expensive bottle of cabernet sauvignon for approximately $168,000 dollars. A mere 12 bottles of the rare wine will be made and distributed selectively - one will be retained by Penfolds, one will be auctioned off by a charitable organization,3 of them will go to Russia, London and Dubai, 3 to parts of Asia, 2 to North America and 2 to Australia.
Like a work of art, each 750ml bottle has been exquisitely designed and hand blown by glass artist Nick Mount in collaboration with three other renowned artists.
Floating inside a handcrafted cabinet, the ampoule has been decorated by a silversmith with precious metals.
Should you be one the few to own the limited edition, a member of the Penfolds Winemaking team will travel to the destination of the owner’s choice where the Ampoule will be ceremoniously removed from its glass plumb-bob casing and opened using a specially designed, tungsten-tipped, sterling silver scribe-snap.
