Since Monday severe flooding from torrential rainfall has caused mass evacuations in southwest China.
Hundreds of thousands have been forced out of their homes by the floodwaters.
Areas heavily affected include Heishui county of the Aba, Tibetan and Qiang autonomous regions of Sichuan province.
Hunan province has seen 110 thousand leave their homes.
The sluice gate of the Sibangou Hydro-Electric Power Station is not able to be lifted, causing a danger of the dam breaching.
As a precaution nearby residents have been evacuated.
Emergency measures are in place to renew the power supply to many areas.
It has been estimated by flood control authorities that two and a half million people in China have recently been affected by the torrential rains, with many rivers still rising.
Meteorologists predict the relentless rain and storm activity to remain constant for days.
