TV9 - Two die, 32 injured in Bidar accident......!

Two volunteers working at the Guru Nanak Jhira Gurdwara died and 32 were injured when a mini-lorry carrying them to a construction site fell into a gorge here on Friday.

They were among the 200 ‘kar sevaks’ or volunteers from Madhya Pradesh and Punjab taking up various jobs at the gurdwara. Narendra Pal Singh (35) of Madhya Pradesh and Gurumit Singh (60) of Punjab died at the Guru Nanak Hospital.

Three of the injured have been shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad, while six are being treated at the Guru Nanak Hospital and 23 have been admitted to the district hospital.

The lorry was carrying the kar sevaks from their camp on the gurdwara premises to the construction site of Bhai Saheb Singh Gurdwara on Janawada Road. The lorry fell into a gorge after the driver lost control of the vehicle, the police said.

Additional Superintendent of Police B.S. Marthukar and other officials rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to hospitals. Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee president Balbir Singh, Raghunth Malkapure, MLC, and zilla panchayat member Shailendra Beldale visited the injured in hospital.
