In London Britain's Queen Elizabeth II has celebrated her 85th birthday with a visit to London's Westminster Abbey for the traditional Maundy Thursday service when she hands out specially minted coins. The Queen and Prince Phillip were married in the Abbey and next week it will be the setting for the wedding of their grandson Prince William. The service represents the Last Supper in the Christian faith and reflects a royal tradition dating back to the 12th century. The Queen presented specially minted silver coins. They were distributed to 85 men and 85 women. According to Buckingham Palace it was the first time the Queen's birthday had fallen on Maundy Thursday and the first time for 10 years the service was held at Westminster Abbey. The Kings Troop, Royal Horse Artillery - a ceremonial unit of the British Army - provided the traditional 41-gun birthday salute which resonated across the country's capital now preparing to host the Royal wedding.
