Israel-Gaza border violence escalates

Border skirmishes between Israel and Gaza heat up.

Medical officials say airstrikes in the early hours of Saturday wounded at least 17 people in the Gaza Strip.

This man says his home was hit around 2am, while he was sharing tea with his children.

Israel targeted three Hamas security strongholds in what is believed to be ongoing retaliation for a raid last week that killed an Israeli man.

At least 14 Palestinian militants and civilians, including a 14-year-old boy, have been killed in airstrikes over the past week.

In response, groups in Gaza fired several rockets into southern Israeli on Saturday.

Reports say one Israeli was wounded and a factory was damaged.

The surge in violence is threatening to unravel a shaky Egyptian-brokered truce; after Hamas on Wednesday agreed to stop rocket fire if Israel halted its airstrike campaign.
